3 Things That You Shouldn't Do When Cleaning Your Luxury Watch

Blog

If you want to keep your luxury watch looking great, it's important to clean it regularly. Due to its location on your wrist, it can be easy for your watch to get dirty throughout the day with normal use, but this dirt and grime can make your once spectacular-looking watch look a whole lot less impressive. There are a few things that you shouldn't do when cleaning your luxury watch if you want to keep it in good shape, however, so avoid these things when giving your watch a good cleaning.

1. Don't Use Harsh Chemicals

It can be tempting to whip out a good all-purpose cleaner or degreaser to get rid of dirt and grime, but doing so can damage your watch. The chemicals can get into the inner workings of the watch and cause problems, or they may cause damage to the various external parts due to being too strong. If your watch is waterproof or water-resistant, using a little bit of water that has been mixed with a gentle soap can be a good option. Steer clear of the harsher cleaners, though, unless they are designed for use on luxury watches.

2. Don't Dry It in the Bathroom

It can seem natural to clean your watch in the bathroom and then to dry it off right where you stand, but your watch can become slippery in your hands, and the last thing that you want to do is drop it on a hard tile floor or other hard surface. If you are going to be cleaning and drying your watch in an area with hard flooring, consider holding the watch over a soft towel or rung while drying it. Then, if you do happen to drop it, it won't be as much of a disaster.

3. Don't Attempt to Polish It

Having your watch polished every now and then can help you keep it in good shape and can make it look like new again. However, if you don't do it properly, you could cause more harm than good. It is actually best to leave this job up to a professional at a company like Hayes Jewelers who is accustomed to working on luxury watches. Then, while you are having your watch professionally polished, you can also have it looked at to ensure that it does not need any type of repair.

As you can see, there are a few things that you should not do when cleaning your luxury watch. Avoid these things and follow all manufacturer's instructions when cleaning your watch for best results.

Making My Look More Interesting

A few months ago, I caught a glimpse of myself when I was walking by a large mirror. I couldn't believe how old I looked. It was as if my personality had been sucked right out of my body. I knew that I had to do something to turn things around, so I went to a friend for help. She suggested sprucing up my look with a little jewelry, and I decided to give it a shot. I was nervous to wear earrings, bangles, and necklaces, but it made a huge difference. My blog is all about teaching people how to use jewelry in exciting ways, so that you can feel your best.
